Description
The bromeliads are a family of some 3100 species, native mainly to the tropical Americas. This family includes epiphytes, such as Spanish moss (Tillandsia), and pineapple. The foliage is very varied, as are the amazingly colorful flowers. The scents vary from faint to very intense. The plant is very adaptable, growing from desert to forest. The flower featured here is growing in the Palma Sola Botanical Garden, in Palmetto, Florida.
