Artist's Description

This immature white ibis is striding through the wetlands at Red Bug Slough in Sarasota, Florida, searching for his meal. This is a coastal bird, seen in the deep southeastern United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean region. Crabs and crayfish make up a large part of the diet. They tend to fly in a straight formation, and roost in trees and bushes at night, often in large groups, and are often seen foraging in groups as well.
