This image is an artistic version of another spoonbill image on my site. The Roseate Spoonbill (Platalea ajaja) makes you want to smile. Its bright pink coloration, especially in the adults, and the spoon-like bill adapted to bottom feeding are outstanding features. The young and immature are much less colorful (mostly white, some pink), but no less amusing to watch, as they sweep the bill back and forth in search of morsels. The Spoonbill is in the ibis family. This bird is found along the Gulf coast, the both coasts of Mexico and in the Caribbean in North America. They dine on fish, crustaceans and shrimp.
Looking for the perfect capture remains my quest. To that effect, roaming about with a motor home seems a perfect fit. My wife and dogs and I will be out there whenever possible to capture the views available, and those unique moments to share with our friends and family. Join us in this quest.
