These two sliders, one covered with algae, are taking the sun, but were quite alert to my presence, as shortly after this photo they dove into the water. This was taken at the Felts Audubon Preserve, Palmetto, Florida. This preserve is excellent for birding, and seems to have a resident Painted Bunting population.
