Description
This striking bird quietly stalks through the reeds of the Celery Fields in Sarasota, Florida. It walks on water plants and swims like a duck, preferring wetlands, eating everything from invertebrates to berries. The sounds are like hens cackling and like kittens mewing. It summers and is year-round in Florida, the Gulf Coast, and Caribbean, though it migrates throughout the eastern US.
