Description
This Colubus Monkey was photographed at Tampa, Florida's Lowry Park Zoo. Black-and-white colobuses (or colobi) are native to Africa. The word "colobus" comes from Greek word meaning "docked", which refers to the stumped thumb. Colobuses are herbivorous, eating leaves, fruit, flowers, and twigs. Newborn colobuses are completely white. The young are cared for by any of the group's members.
