Description
This double-crested cormorant has just come up from a dive and is appearing greased due to the soaked feathers. These are year-round birds in most of the United States coastal waters. These are diving birds, but easily distinguished from the similar anhinga by the curved and blunt beak tip compared to the longer, more narrow and very sharp anhinga beak. The anhinga is seen primarily in the southeastern US coastal areas and Mexico. Their diet is primarily fish, amphibians, and crustaceans.
